Bulldogs Go 1-2 Over the Weekend, 3-3 Overall
Volleyball went 1-2 over the weekend competing in all non-conference matches. Friday night, September 8th, the Bulldogs took down Division III opponent Patrick Henry Community College in 4 sets. On September 9th, the Lady Bulldogs traveled from Martinsville, VA to Raleigh, NC to face Wake Tech Community College and Walters State Community College from Morrisville, TN. The bulldogs dropped both matches in 5 sets. We saw great volleyball from the Lady Bulldogs and look forward to zoning in on the errors, fixing mistakes, and preparing for our first home matches of the season against University of South Carolina-Lancaster and Louisburg College on Saturday, September 16th at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Patrick Henry Community College Recap (Pitt CC won 25-17, 25-22, 21-25, 25-15))
The Bulldogs competed against Patrick Henry Community College on Friday, September 8, 2017 in Martinsville, VA. Freshman Hannah Sladick led the team offensively at the net with a .320 hitting percentage with 13 kills, followed by sophomore Alexis Bynum with 8 kills on the night. Sophomore Garrison Bowes led the team with 3 service aces and 12 digs.
Wake Tech Community College (Pitt CC lost 25-23, 25-19, 22-25. 20-25, 9-15)
The Bulldogs took a hit against Wake Tech Community College playing under the potential this team has on the court. Freshman Calissa Parrott racked up 10 kills to lead the team offensively, as Gabrielle Isaacs had 16 assists and Lauren Farquhar with 17 assists on the match. Garrison collected 20 digs on the match, with Lauren Farquhar and Kele Younger gathering 13 digs respectively.
Walters State Community College (Pitt CC lost 21-25,25-20,28-30,25-15,10-15)
The Lady Bulldogs played the best volleyball of the season against a tough Walters State Community College on Saturday, September 9, 2017. The team battled point by showing how talented the 2017 team is for this season. Walters State came with a strong offense and blockers at the net to keep hitting percentage low, but the PCC defense fought tirelessly to rack up 101 digs as ta team, with 5 players in double digits. Garrison Bowes led the team with 21 digs, Kele Younger followed closely behind with 20 digs, Gabrielle Isaacs with 19 digs, Lauren Farquhar with 16 digs, and Hannah Sladick with 14 digs. Alexis Bynum led the team with 4 solo blocks, and had 5 kills in the match. Bowes led the team in kills with 10, followed by Sladick with 9.
